Vegan Hot Chocolate Recipe

One of my favorite memories of winters past was always when me and my friends/family would go out in our winter boots and coats and brave the cold for some good old holiday fun. We would toboggan down hills, go ice skating on the near by rink or just have fun in the fluffy white snow. Of course a few hours later we were all cold, our socks where no longer warm and dry, our fingers frosty and our nose was as red as Rudolphs. Once everyone was in agreement, it was time to head back indoors to warm up under a blanket and sip on a freshly made cup of hot chocolate. hot chocolate8hot chocolate7

Of course, more often then not, the hot chocolate was either picked up from the local Tim Hortons Drive Thru or was made using an instant pack because we were all too lazy ( and tired ) to attempt to make our own. But this recipe is super simple to make, requires very few ingredients and will leave you feeling warm and cozy!

Serves 1


1 Cup Non Dairy Milk

1 Tbsp Cacao Powder

2 Tbsp Dark Chocolate Chips

1 Tbsp Coconut Sugar


  1. In a small sauce pan bring 1 cup of non dairy milk ( or dairy milk if not vegan or lactose sensitive ) to a boil
  2. Once milk has come to a boil, turn down heat and add in 1 Tbsp Cacao Powder, 1 Tbsp Dark Chocolate Chips & 1 Tbsp Coconut Sugar
  3. Stir continuously, until everything is completely mixed in, make sure there are no lumps of Cacao Powder or Dark Chocolate Chips
  4. Once hot chocolate is thoroughly mixed pour into mug and serve with a few Cookies
