Good Morning everyone, I hope you are all well! Today’s post is going to be a bit of a different one, instead of posting my little blurb about the outfit I will actually be discussing my experience Black Friday shopping at the West Edmonton Mall as well as why it is the place to shop, eat, play and hangout!
For those of you who don’t know, I am not an Alberta native. I am actually from the Toronto area and moved out west with my family about nine years ago. When we first moved here the West Edmonton Mall was a new and exciting place to visit and explore, I would practically go every weekend! Not only does it feature an abundance of stores to shop at, ( whether you are into fashion, gaming, beauty or sports the mall has it all ) but it also features a fully operating water park complete with a wave pool and multiple water slides, an amusement park full of daring roller coasters, an ice skating rink, multiple restaurants and even a few hotels!
For those who have never visited here are a few key things that are an absolute must do!
- At either end of the mall are two iconic Canadian department stores: Simons & The Hudsons Bay! These are a definite must if you are visiting from outside of Canada, Simons has the best sweaters and The Bay is just quintessentially Canadian! It wouldn’t be right if you didn’t at least pop in!
- Parking can be a bit tricky, especially around the holidays, my tip would be to come early and to follow @official_WEM on Twitter to stay up to date on the best parking spots!
- Hungry? The West Edmonton Mall features two food courts filled with your fast food favorites, a Tim Hortons on the second floor by the Ice Rink as well as different coffee shops across the mall! Want something a little fancier? Check out Bourbon Street on the first level, it features a wide variety of restaurants, including an amazing steakhouse Mr.Mikes, who is very accommodating to us plant based people!
Of course the mall is home to some amazing stores, including all of my favorites: Aritzia, Garage, Urban Outfitters and Forever 21. So when the West Edmonton Mall asked if I would like to be a part of a Snapchat/Instagram takeover with a few other Edmonton bloggers I of course said YES! They challenged us to go a full day ( over 12hrs!! ) at the mall, shopping, eating and of course scoping out those Black Friday deals all while taking over there social media. Of course this was no challenge at all! The deals were amazing and I was able to pick up some gorgeous pieces ( such as this beautiful black wool coat as well as my bad ass bomber jacket from this post HERE! ), they treated us to an amazing lunch at Mr.Mikes on Bourbon Street as well as dinner at L2 by the Ciniplex theaters. There are plenty of places along the mall to take a rest and grab a snack, and you can pop on over to the Apple Store to charge your phone ( which of course I had to… cause I’m always on my phone. ha. ).
The day was filled with good food, good laughs and good friends, I am so thankful that I had this experience and that I was able to share it with all of you. Thank you West Edmonton Mall for everything!
